Before I start, let me just say what an awful, awful relationship I have with my hair. Or rather, I'm an absolute terrible mommy to it :( I wash, blow dry and straighten almost every day...I bleach it once every few months and re-dye it every few weeks...I'm a bad bad person. However more recently I have been being MUCH nicer to it, i.e. tying it up instead of straightening and dry shampoo-ing instead of washing, you get the idea. So I do have a lot of hair products I use most days, and I'm constantly on the look out for more...bad Stephanie. So, are we all sitting comfortably?
1. The original Tangle Teezer. The holy grail of hair brushes! I've been using my tangle teaser for about 5 months now and it's definitely one of my favourite purchases that I would repurchase again and again if I needed to. Before using this, after washing my hair I would drag my paddle hair brush through it (slap on the wrist) and low and behold, clumps of wet broken hair would fall into my lap. Enter tangle teaser....easy gliding through my hair leaving it soft to touch and hardly any broken strands, love! Granted it hasn't stopped breakage completely (it would take a miracle on my hair) but whereas my old hairbrush would need de-clogging every two weeks or so, I've only de-clogged the Tangle Teezer once in the 5 months I've been using it. My hair is so much more manageable once it's been dried now and I just can't resist running my hands through it! Favourite. Toy. Ever.
2. John Frieda Full Repair Deep Conditioner and Perfect Ends Deep Infusion. I'm coupling these together because quite frankly I think they're a damn good team. As I mentioned, I bleach and dye my hair quite often (I am naturally blonde, I simply dye it a few shades prettier) so I have tried numerous different products that claim to 'repair' and 'replenish' blonde locks, but none have I noticed a significant difference with than these two! The Deep Conditioner feels so luxurious on my wet hair. It says to leave it on for 2-5 minutes but if I have the time I like to leave it on for 15-20. Once rinsed off, my hair feels like butter and is so easy to brush afterwards. I team this with the Perfect Ends Deep Infusion, one pump in my hand goes a long way and I tend to use this just on the ends and dry bits which need more attention. The only downside to this is it's very greasy and I have to wash my hands thoroughly afterwards. The first time I dried my hair after using these I couldn't quite believe the difference it made, my hair felt so light and bouncy and LOOKED in good condition! I will be repurchasing these as long as they're made.
3. TRESemme Heat Defence Styling Spray - ah, my old friend. This was the very first heat protection spray I ever bought after one of my class teachers in year 11 scolded me for not using any when she knew I straightened my hair so often! I was none-the-wiser at the time but would not go without protection spray now. The 300Ml Spray lasts me 3-4 months and is a bargain at less than £5 in Superdrug. I've tried one or two other sprays just out of curiosity in the last year or so and none even come close to the smell/feel/consistency of TRESemme. Don't you hate it when sprays spurt out at you like a water pistol?! I love the even coverage you get from the nozzle on this old favourite.
4. Batiste Dry Shampoo - Blonde. I didn't actually know Batiste did coloured dry shampoos until a couple of weeks ago, I was very impressed as although the feel of Batiste compared to other brands of dry shampoo is lovely, it sometimes left my hair looking a bit grey-ish, like it had been coated in talc powder. The blonde colouring in this makes the mist completely unnoticeable and definitely brightens up my hair on a dull day! Like I mentioned earlier I've been using dry shampoo lately to try and stay away from washing my hair every day, and it does keep it feeling fresh and clean for a while. Will definitely be repurchasing the blonde version as opposed to the lace from now on!
5. Berber Oil LIGHT Radiance Spray with Argon Oil - This is actually a brand new product for me, having only been using it a week, however I am totally in love with it. It was a gift from my step mom after she knew I was looking for an Argon/Moroccan oil substitute (I love the theory behind the oils but my hair is oily enough on it's own without adding extra!) so this light mist spray sounded ideal. Spritzed onto dry hair (through a great wide-spraying nozzle, yay!) it leaves it feeling and looking shiny and radiant without product build up or feeling oily. I think this is a dark horse in the Argon Oil market, unheard of but works miracles! :)
So that's it for my hair favourites, make up and skin care will follow in the next week or so. As well as a review on my new Remington hair straighteners (my trusty GHDs broke and these were my substitute, however I think I may be more in love with them than any others!) Do any of you use any of these products, or have any suggestions/substitutions you think I should try?
